This is probably long overdue. My 2008 asari latex headpiece tutorial - finally on DeviantArt AND in one big ol' pdf!
(you can also view the pages my site or instructables if the download is too big for ya...but dA is the only place to download the giant pdf)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Back in 2008, I went as Dr. Liara T’Soni from Mass Effect for Halloween. It was my first time using latex or doing *anything* like this. At the time, I had a hard time finding information about what to do online, so I decided to make a mini comic tutorial about my experience.

So. Keep in mind, this tutorial is old. The drawings are bad. The text is shoddy. But this comic has helped people make Asari headpieces...and since I *still* get people talking to me about this, I decided to finally put my tutorial all together into one pdf and upload it on DeviantArt for easy access.

A lot of people skip the lifemold-of-their-face step and use an armature/foam head. Some people make the headpiece in two pieces (top and neck). Some people use aquacolors, others ben nye, some alcohol-based, for their skin makeup. Everybody has different methods and uses different materials, so my suggestion is to check out what other people have done, do your research and always, always be safe when working.

If you're one of those special effects pros who have issues with my methods, might complain I'm too generous in the time I give for stuff, point out my paint job is bad - this isn't Face Off here. It's "Firsttimedoinganythinglikethisletsseeifwecanpullthis Off"

I'm not planning to cosplay an asari, but damn, this is really inspiring! If I ever end up making this headpiece and cosplaying an asari, I'm blaming you : D

Glad you like it!
I sometimes wonder, in the event of an Asari uprising, if I'll get a lot of finger-pointing and people saying 'Well, she started it!'

I'm just before pouring latex into it, but I don't have so much of it to do it as you did. And I don't have much time, so I won't be able to buy new one and try again ... any advice?

How much latex do you have? I had way more than I needed! You're coating the inside of your mold, so you don't need too much - less than a pint.
